The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has issued a statement that appropriately trained non-veterinarians are allowed to microchip dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets.

I qualified as a microchipper in 2006, and hold the appropriate certification.

I use Pet-Detect ISO compliant microchips, and I register the details of your pet and

reunification service in the UK, and it's database stores over 2,000,000 records.

This is on hand 24 hours a day to authorised bodies such as vets, dog wardens or

animal welfare centres, who can scan the chips in found animals and trace their owners

via the Petlog database.

Microchipping uses Radio Frequency (RFID) technology and cannot be tampered with,

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS A MICROCIHIP ?

A Microchip is a small capsule that is around the size of a grain of rice. It carries a unique identification number and is made of an inert material so it won’t be rejected by your pet’s body.

HOW IS IT IMPLANTED?

In the case of cats, dogs, rabbits and ferrets the microchip is implanted in the scruff of the neck using a special pre-packed sterile needle. The chip is deposited into the fatty area between the shoulder blades

WILL IT HURT?
Your pet will feel no more discomfort than with a conventional injection.

WHAT IF I MOVE HOUSE?

Not a problem. Information such as changes of address can easily be updated via Petlog's website

MY PET DOESN'T GO OUT, IT WON'T NEED A CHIP, WILL IT?

Even though your pet may not go out, it is still important to microchip. What would happen if he/she DID get out?

Our fee to visit your home and Microchip your pet is £15.00 for the first animal. This includes the cost of travelling to your home in the Bedfordshire (LU) postcode area, the chip, implanting and registration of your details with Petlog. There will be a small surcharge for travelling expenses for further afield, which will be quoted on request.

Our home-bred kittens and puppies will be microchipped before leaving us for their new homes.

I will provide a 10% discount for 2nd and subsequent animals (if microchipped at the same time). There is also a discount for breeders and club members, see below.
